Yet more build up to the new video for 1970′s punk band ‘The Johnny 7 Combo’. Here we have a big moment for the band when they hit the front page of the ‘Evening Gazette’. This was published on Thursday 28th July 1977. Scroll down to read the article that tells of an incident at one of the bands gigs in Clacton-On-Sea.
I loved going through all the old clippings and photos that the band had kept. It was a massive influence on the direction I decided to take when making the video as I really wanted to include this rich imagery while giving it a sense of movement and punk energy.
I’ve been working hard on a stop motion music video for a 1970′s lost punk band called ‘The Johnny 7 Combo’. The video will be ready to show very soon and I’ll be posting bits and pieces in the run up to the unveiling.
First is a poster that the band hand made back in the day and posted around their home town of Clacton-on-Sea. The band regularly created these rough and ready images to publicise gigs, and this was a strong influence on the style of the video.
As a follow on from this post, here is a behind the scenes shot of the set up I am using for my latest music video. The song is a re-discovered punk gem from the late 70′s so I am sticking to the aesthetic of the day and keeping it DIY. Natural light, stark black+white paint and no fancy computer effects will make up this animated punk poster.
