Pure Film: Norman McLaren

Back in the 1940′s Norman McLaren was creating experimental short animations by drawing the images straight onto the film. He was a pioneer in the Pure Film Movement of the time and created some interesting and fun pieces. He developed a number of groundbreaking techniques for combining and synchronizing animation with music. The video below called “Dots” is an great example of his work.
