I have just updated the Handymartian website. Instead of just being a useless holding page it is now a hub for all the music stuff I make. I’ll be adding more stuff to it at some point but for now you can hear a couple of Digital Mixtapes and link to all the other Handymartian places.

Santander

I was asked to design and animate a few sections of an ad for Santander. These sections would be edited together with other live action and animated parts to create the full commercials. Each section is a response to the voice over, my three were: “You Catch”, “You Muddle” and “You Sip”.

‘But what are these digital mixtapes?’ I hear you ask. Here’s an explanation…

I like to tinker about with sounds and try to create songs, I’ve been doing this for ages and some of it has fed into my animation work (see Dry Fish and E4 Music Idents)…but a lot of it gathers dust on my hard drives. So I’ve cut them together into EP sized mixes and I’m uploading them as Digital Mixtapes. I’ve done two so far, as well as a video for the first song off the first mixtape and I’m putting together the third one at the moment. It gets the songs out of my system and hopefully someone out there in the internet will enjoy listening.

I got to work with the very talented Laurie Proud on the animation. As well as animation he also does amazing dark illustrations and comics. You can see some of his great work here.

A Digital Introduction…

This is the first video for my Handymartian project. This tune is called “Digital Introduction…” and is the first song off the first “Digital Mixtape”. These mixtapes pull together various songs, sounds and audio ideas into an EP sized chunk.
